Some school experiences have been reported to be as traumatic, as those experienced by individuals suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.” M Nemko (Psychology Today, 2016)
Feelings of loss. For some of our children, loss arrives in the form of the loss of control, confidence, ways to express, belief in self, future, hope and more. Many of our students suffer a physical attachment or loss by being uprooted from their schools to private school settings, and home school alternatives in order to meet their special needs. There is a sense of displacement or loss that may be experienced.

1: Individual
The human spirit is not a one size fits all. To individualize care, a diverse integration of evidence-based practices is necessary to meet the healing and needs of our clients. Areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, grief, self-esteem, empowerment, social isolation and goal-attainment.
1: Family
We meet with the family as a group, or individually to discuss the issues that are interfering with their lives. The goal of therapy is to reduce the harm to the whole, by addressing these emotional or environmental challenges, and create ways to modify or transform what is not working. We provide a confidential space to share information and provide the support fostering the growth of critical skills and strategies, such as communication and boundaries. Additionally, we go over learning and educational planning of special needs and transitional years.
1: Youth
Children and adolescents face so many challenges by just going through the transformations of their transitional years. This is only compounded when faced with life challenges or specific life events such as trauma, loss, divorce, learning differences, ADHD, mental or physical health, social emotional stress, shyness, low confidence, bullying, anxiety and more.
Parenting and child development are hard work. The life journey for each of us can be complex, fleeting and unpredictable. Let’s work together to come up with strategies that fit the style and feel of you, and your family.

Methodology
Life happens, and we are not always ready for it.
We offer evidence-based, trauma-informed, individualized support for emotional, or mental health challenges. Areas of expertise include anxiety, PTSD, trauma, grief and loss, transitional life events, self-empowerment, personal exploration, or those seeking stress-management strategies. Through an integrative approach to therapy including narrative, existential, Gestalt based discovery, cognitive-behavioral (CBT) techniques, positive psychology based art and play; we can directly support a client from exactly where they are.
As antiracist practitioners, we are also extensively trained in inclusive, equitable solutions, especially Indigenous studies (decolonization of current systems, cultural sensitivity). We center on collectivist worldviews, including mindfulness, play & expressive arts therapy such as the use of poetry, music, hip hop.
It is a privilege to be part of the process that supports others to unlock their power and see their magic come to fruition, especially when it is a child.
Honoring the growth needs of the mind, body, heart and spirit, each session aims for total health fostering self-awareness, personal reflection, accountability, personal growth and transformation.
Purpose: the discovery of your best, peaceful life, through teaching unconditional acceptance, gratitude and resiliency.
“I do my thing and you do your thing. I am not in this world to live up to your expectations, And you are not in this world to live up to mine. You are you, and I am I.” (Fritz Perls, 1969)
We honor the light in you.
